Project, Leveraged & Structured Finance Analyst
Duties and Responsibilities:- Prepare credit proposals, including assessing, analyzing and interpreting financial information, undertaking risk assessment analysis and financial projections in compliance with internal credit system, business / industry analysis and other relevant due diligence work.- Support transactional negotiations and supervise contract documentation while working with senior credit professionals to underwrite LBOs, Project Finance and Asset Finance (i.e aviation and shipping) transactions, participate in approval process, making recommendations of appetite and assignment of regulatory and internal ratings.- Build internal decision-making models for investing and evaluating risk, provide scenario-based analytics, and maintain surveillance across the portfolio monitoring exposures throughout the life of the transaction.- Monitor the performance of borrowers and counterparts in the portfolio, including adherence to terms and covenants, sector concentration, historical evolution and help to formulate risk-mitigating strategies as necessary.- Recommend and respond to ad-hoc requests from management members to take appropriate action and facilitate strategic planning by carrying out relevant economic and market researches, keeping up to date with industry news while detecting and escalating notable industry trends.- Liaise with the Bank’s Restructuring team for troubled deals and coordinate with Sales & Trading department to approve derivatives business.- Take ownership and lead other initiatives such as industry reviews, simulations of the entire portfolio based on certain parameters while preparing credit-focused memos for internal and external dissemination.
Project Finance Analyst
Duties and Responsibilities:- Cooperate with investment team in preliminary screening and due diligence of the projects, design and review of financial models, drafting of credit proposals and provide support in the structuring and execution process.- Review and analyze proposed new investment projects, identify key project and counterparty risks and propose optimal risk mitigation strategy and transaction structure (primarily senior debt, including participations in syndicated transactions, but also mezzanine/ equity).- Monitor assigned project portfolio, considering both technical and financial aspects of project implementation, operating environment and industry trends to identify possible risk factors negatively impacting new investments and the repayment of current investments; identify and lead possible restructurings.- Design of risk governances, actuation framework and strategic commercial plans (Risk allocation) and the monitoring of it's effective implementation and maintenance. - Prepare and present internal risk rating reports, information memoranda and management presentations.The portfolio includes Project Finance and Asset Finance, focusing on Renewable Energies, Transportation, Water&Waste, Public Sector (PPP´s), Oil&Gas and TMT.

Ingenium GRM was the name of the first graduate program in Credit Risk Management deployed by BBVA, it was a 7-month journey with a total of 11 candidates selected from more than 1000 applications received.We spent the first 4 months in a Business School to gain deep learning and understanding about wholesale and retail banking products. CUNEF was the school that gave the weekly lessons and exams, while BBVA's senior management was in charge of teaching how to manage strategic decisions adopted by the bank by solving business cases and real investment banking situations every day.The remaining 3 months were developed at Madrid headquarters where we rotated between +30 different areas to know in advance the mission of the organization.
