As a senior chemistry major at Luther College, I am passionate about pursuing a career in medicine and improving human health, specifically, through fields that intersect kinesiology and exercise science. I have a strong academic background in chemistry, biochemistry, and biology, with a GPA of 3.9 and multiple honors and scholarships.I have also gained valuable hands-on experience in research and healthcare settings. I am currently an intern at Mayo Clinic's Assistive and Restorative Technology Research Laboratory, where I assist with researching the evaluation of scapholunate injury and repair using dynamic (4D) CT imaging. I work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and clinicians, and contribute to data analysis, literature review, and prototype design.In addition, I have been working as a phlebotomist at WinnMed for over a year, where I perform blood draws on a diverse array of patients in different departments across the hospital. I communicate professionally and respectfully with patients and members of a healthcare team, document activities and maintain strict patient confidentiality, and assist lab technicians with handling and processing of specimens.Through these experiences, I have developed core competencies in research, lab, and healthcare skills, as well as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills to further advance the field of medicine and make a positive impact on people's lives.
