When I first started my Army career I served on an artillery squad working with several different weapons systems. In South Korea I quickly gained the leadership role just under my squad leader and led many newer recruits when my squad leader was away on other business. Also, I was responsible for millions of dollars worth of equipment to include keeping track of the explosive rounds as an Ammo Team Chief. I later deployed to Afghanistan and served with a small platoon in security forces. This included roles in providing security as a dismounted patrol, driver, radio operator, low level mechanic, and working with systems to monitor and verify insurgents. All while in a high stakes, high pressure environment. I later came to Fort Sill, OK where I went back to artillery. In addition I trained soldiers on the weapon systems, worked with the MP’s guarding the gate, CIF issue facility and Battalion S3 office. While in the S3 office I monitored radio traffic and was tasked to give them the information from the computer system that they needed such as weather patterns and other information so they could complete their mission. I was also required to work with the Battalion Major, Sargent Major and other high rank Non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers to report daily by email on troop movements.
