Asset manager. I’m the main operator of Cartegraph, a system that records and keeps a log of all of the counties assets including Signs, Culverts, Bridges, Roads, Guiderail and Lights. Routine inspections on each asset to determine whether or not it needs to be replaced, cleaned or repaired. I’m also in charge of the sign shop as well as my regular duties. I receive calls and messages about signs that have been hit by a vehicle or downed by wind, and go out and repair them. After repairing the sign I update the signs history in Cartegraph. I also fabricate signs and set up construction signs for our highway crews. I am in charge of the sign shop budget and the ordering of supplies needed, along with complex signs like speed radar signs, signs with flashing lights and message boards. Other supervisorial sign shop duties include but not limited to; Brush control, Night surveys and Reflectometer/15 year replacement of signs. I also use surveying equipment to collect data points so that new projects can get designed. The equipment used would include but not limited to; sight level/plumb bob, engineering level, total station.

I am responsible for inspecting construction projects for Tompkins County. I would ensure that the contractor is in compliance with NYSDOT standard specifications and safety standards. Writing daily work reports of the day's activities noting what equipment, how much material was used, and their work zone traffic control. Being the lead inspector I am also in charge of public relations. I would answer any questions referring to the job to the best of my ability. I also inspect culverts, and determine whether or not it needs to be replaced, cleaned or repaired. I would record its location, flow direction and head wall condition. I would assist in monitoring and inspecting construction projects, making sure that the workers were using the appropriate tools, materials and equipment. At the end of each day I would do a write up of what the workers did that day, work site conditions, work zone traffic control, and work hours. I would pay for items used that day and attach the payments to the write up for that day.

Campground store employee and Campground Maintenance. In the store I would stock shelves and operate the cash register. I would answer the phones and reserve people for certain dates, and check people in and show them where they would be camping. As maintenance supervisor I would mow and weed whack the campground, replace garbage bins and fix electrical or plumbing problems. I would use a John Deer skid steer to deliver gravel or deliver pallets of wood to people sites when requested.
