Following University I decided to obtain a job at the carvery with a view to gaining general and customer focused work experience. I have now been on a management training scheme for 15 months and now have become a team leader where my most recent duties have included opening the business and setting up. I have also recently been given the role of managing the restaurant, bar and all team members on a regular basis. My duties are dealing with complaints, any problems that have occurred and ensuring the smooth running of the business. I have also been involved in the interview process for new employees and have worked in partnership with the assistant manager in this.Key Duties: Customer service, product knowledge, unloading deliveries, handling cash transactions.Skills Learnt: Being able to work as a member of a team, communication between staff and customers, problem solving, time management, engaging with customers.

Reading for a BSc in Disaster Management and Emergency Planning to be completed June 2012.Studying modules such as: 225GED, Dealing with Emergencies in the UK - In this module we analyse the Civil Contingencies Act and associated documents such as Emergency Preparedness Act. Then I extract the key data from these acts and use it as part of the analysis. Key Skills learnt: Researching and analysing key documents, Critical and analytical thinking, gathering data from a wide range of sources such as journals and the internet. 223GED, Warning and Informing for environmental Hazards - creating a tool that can be used to warn people of a certain hazard in a certain country. I look at different systems that are already in place used to educate people about hazards. Analyse what methods are better for different groups of people. Key Skills learnt: Working in a group, using Microsoft powerpoint, gathering of relevant data, presenting information in a clear and informative way and meeting deadlines.
