I love a good story. I’ve written thousands of them over the years. Some of them have been short enough to fit into a LinkedIn or Twitter post, others have been anything from a few hundred words, to ten thousand plus. Press releases, case studies, blog posts, feature articles, video scripts, white papers, technical reports, not to mention countless pages of digital content – and even a coffee table book.Suitably enough, my early career was in book publishing, where stories were all around me. Then, nearly a decade ago, I moved into B2B marketing and comms where I work with technology and manufacturing companies across multiple sectors – helping them to shape, and to tell, their stories. Every brand with something of value to sell, has a story to tell. That story needs to be compelling. It needs to be well-told, to build trust and convey a strong message and, just as importantly, it needs to be consistent. Conflicting messages, like plot holes in a novel, generate confusion and erode trust.It’s about much more than your products. It’s about offering real solutions to real problems. Be it energy prices, the cost of raw materials, skills shortages, or supply chain challenges – a compelling B2B narrative identifies genuine problems, and then offers solutions.And that’s where we come in. Telling the stories that your customers are going to relate to. The stories they’re going to see themselves in, and the stories that show them a clear way through whatever obstacles are in their path.So that’s my story. What’s yours?
