I am an assistant professor of mechanical engineering (tenure track) at Greenville University, Greenville, IL. Currently, I concentrate my energy and focus on designing, developing and delivering general engineering courses at the undergraduate level. I try to foster an eager and engaging learning environment. I begin my class by sharing a short monologue of an engineering challenge, or design, or design flaw. I draw from pop-culture reference such as Ironman or Batman. Following the short story, I present the theory associated with that story to engage students to learn the outcome of the story. Some students might have already connected the dots and can almost predict the outcome of the story. Finally, I provide the conclusion and encourage dialogue among students to discuss the concept among themselves and raise questions or concerns they might have regarding the story or concepts. I received my Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Science with emphasis in mechanical engineering and energy processes from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL through their collaborated Ph.D. program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Edwardsville, IL. I investigated the macroscopic responses of materials to macroscopic loads as a function of the mesoscopic granular deformation systems. My research entailed the development of a mathematical model that quantifies the contribution of several groups of deformation mechanism encompassed in a hexagonal closed packed material to understand their contribution towards the samples' macroscopic deformation. These materials are characterized as possessing high-strength while also being light-weight. To study the deformation properties of these materials, this I proposed an Elasto-Plastic Self-Consistency formulation using Crystal Plasticity (CP-EPSC) functions. I compared the results obtained against those obtained from Crystal Plasticity Finite Element Models (CP-FEM). Outside of work, I enjoy plane-spotting and aero-photography, astrophotography and star gazing, animal photography, cooking, museums of natural history, and history museums. I love animals, I enjoy visiting animal sanctuaries and am always excited to meet and touch animals. I am not a fan of the physical traveling to new places, but I enjoy new experiences I get from traveling and visiting the new places, eating different food, and meeting non-judgmental people.
