In 2017 at the age of 30 I decided to change my life to study a topic that I've been interested in since I was a child. I enrolled in a Bachelor of Information Technology (Networking and Cybersecurity) and after a few short years of sacrifice, hardwork and dedicaton, I graduated in 2021.I might not have all the answers (who does in the world of ICT), but I enjoy helping people and solving problems. The thrill of fixing something that was broken or seeing the relief on a clients face keeps me going. I am currently working as a Cyber Security Specialist in the Defence industry where I have worked on security artefacts including:- vulnerability assessments, - security risk assessments, - continuous monitoring and logging plans,- incident response plans, and- standard operating procedures.Through this work I have developed an understanding of the ACSC Information Security Manual (ISM), Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF), and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). I have also completed the NCSP Foundations exam which has given me knowledge of the NIST Cybersecurity framework. Furthermore, I have completed the Essential Eight (E8) Assessment Course which has allowed me to develop a greater understanding of the E8. I previously worked as a Level 1/2 ICT Support Specialist for an aged care provider. My customer service skills have allowed me to build many relationships with staff, residents, and external support networks across the organisation. Here, I learnt troubleshooting and problem solving skills relating to hardware, software, network, and systems.Through these two roles and University study, I have developed skills in:- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO,- Microsoft Exchange / Microsoft Outlook,- Network monitoring using PRTG Network Monitor,- Network logging using Kiwi Syslog,- MFA technology such as RSA SecurID,- Vulnerability assessment using Tenable Nessus,- VMware including Horizon, vSphere, vCenter,- Networking such as routing, switches, firewalls, LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN, and- Report/document writing and reviewing including configuration/setup guides.In my spare time, I enjoy coding/developing my own games using Unity and JavaFXML.
