• Supporting the Health Protection Team in the development and delivery of emergency planning and response in compliance with duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004• Provide information management, acute incident and project support to the Consultants in Environmental Health Protection and the Consultant in Communicable Disease Control (CCDC)• Supporting the function of Environmental Health Protection TeamWithin the Health Protection Team at Public Health Wales I am responsible for supporting the operational response to incidents and outbreaks, supporting the delivery of environmental health protection work streams and also supporting work within emergency planning and preparedness. Within my role I am required to provide and handle highly complex and often confidential and sensitive information, relating to environmental incidents, incident reports as well as multiagency emergency plans. It is one of my main duties to maintain and update the Emergency Response Plans of Public Health Wales. This means I need to liaise with a range of professionals both internally, within the organisation, externally across the NHS, public sector organisations, Welsh Government and blue light services. My role often requires analysing, interpreting, collating and reporting data through many different mediums. The use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) takes a large role in the presentation of this data, but also within incident response. During my time within my role I have developed an elearning package with regards to incidents response for all staff, created and maintained access databases to record incidents and outbreaks to be shared with the incidents and outbreaks sub group in Welsh Government, as well as facilitating and presenting at training events.Recently I have been involved with the planning arrangements for the NATO 2014 conference in Newport as well as Ebola planning and response

Obtaining and analysing prescribing data for cost effective prescribing, budgetary impacts and surveillanceWithin Medicines Management i was responsible for the management of project documentation for all projects within the team’s work plan, monitor,analyse and interpret data for projects as needed. I was required to facilitate the day to day running of the MMT which was achieved through maintaining an overview of all medicines management projects and monitoring progress against key deliverables and reporting on variance against planned timescales so that priorities could assessed and re-evaluated. I further supported the MMT, through the preperation of reports, maintaining evidence, and databases, following up on confidential queries and replies from GPs and practice staff. With regards to my analytical work, I was required to support the Head of Medicines Management (HOMM) by analysing and monitoring prescribing data to ensure regular reporting on prescribing budgets and QIPP work programmes in a timely manner. This was achieved through the use of systems such as ePACT, ScriptSwitch and the collation of data through various data collection methods. This required myself to proactively develop innovative approaches for presentation and dissemination of prescribing information. Within this role it is essential to communicate with a wide range of personnel across the healthcare community e.g.; GPs, members of the public and the pharmaceutical industry. This involved receiving complex and sometimes sensitive information, requiring appropriate communication skills

The weaknesses in medicating procedures, in which I highlighted the action to form the basis of an action plan for the greater input into Care Homes for the NHS in North Somerset. I have also assisted on a medicines waste project with the aim of reducing medicines waste. This has involved measuring the increase/reduction of waste returned to pharmacy and the cost of this to the NHS. Another project managed related to the reporting of controlled drugs.
