We are a charity that supports people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs, at home and in the community.

Based at Crickley Hill Country Park the team manages and maintains a variety of designated woodland, grassland and archaeological sites across Gloucestershire. These designations include Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), Scheduled Anceint Monuments (SAM) and a Local Nature Reserve (LNR). Working for STS has allowed me to gain experience in teaching children and young people from local schools skills and techniques to enhance their sporting performance. I work with children and young people ranging from 6-16 years who come from a wide variety of backgrounds; this includes young people in foster care and children suffering with mental health problems. The aim is to instil confidence, promote teamwork and assist in the personal development of the young people involved. Goblin Combe enabled me to work with disaffected young people aged 14-16 where I had the opportunity to reintroduce them back into education. I achieved this by organising creative ways for them to learn, tutoring them about the environment around them and building their self-esteem. My task as the senior youth worker was to organise and run weekly activities for young people aged 11-18 from different local cultures and backgrounds. This role allowed me to: further develop communication skills as it involved working closely alongside parents; gain confidence in negotiating and arranging plans with local organisations; become accustomed to addressing large groups of young people and familiarise myself with visiting local schools doing assemblies.
