My task as the senior youth worker was to organise and run weekly activities for young people aged 11-18 from different local cultures and backgrounds. This role allowed me to: further develop communication skills as it involved working closely alongside parents; gain confidence in negotiating and arranging plans with local organisations; become accustomed to addressing large groups of young people and familiarise myself with visiting local schools doing assemblies.
