Daniel Robert is a historian and patent analyst. Before working in intellectual property he served as a lecturer in the History Department of the University of California, Berkeley, where he taught U.S. history, business history, and history of science & technology. He received a Ph.D. in American history from Berkeley and a BS in mechanical engineering from UIC. Daniel's book, Courteous Capitalism: Public Relations and the Monopoly Problem, 1900-1930, is now available from Johns Hopkins University Press (2023). The book connects emotional regulation at the lowest levels of the corporation to political regulation at the highest levels of government. Daniel is not the author of the various self-discipline books by someone of the same name, nor would he propose to know anything about that topic.Daniel has worked as a history professor, design engineer, apothecary, and lawn mower. He once worked as a music clerk at Best Buy (back when they sold CDs) where they tried to get him to do corporate cheers, and as a bicycle mechanic at an independent shop where they didn't.
