I earned my masters degree in social work from Adelphi University. Through fieldwork positions at two social services agencies, I have been fortunate to learn from a variety of mentors and have experienced diverse and challenging cases. These opportunities have allowed me to establish and fortify my counseling abilities and treatments skills with individuals and in group settings. As a good listener, with great patience and compassion, I feel that counseling is one of my greatest strengths as a social worker. I am seeking a full-time position in a diverse setting to further advance my growth and development. I have developed skills as an educator and therapist through internships at the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and The Hope House Ministries. I strive to create a warm and supportive environment that encourages dialogue and growth. By listening and anticipating my clients’ needs, I have grown as a communicator and am able to respond effectively. These internship experiences ultimately allowed me to apply the assessment techniques and theories that I learned in my formal education in order to select appropriate interventions for my clients. My interest in social work as a career initially stemmed from my position at ACLD. As a Behavior Intervention Specialist for adults with developmental disabilities, I have demonstrated great commitment and enthusiasm in promoting the well being of my clients and the greater community. I continually seek opportunities to improve myself and the individuals I serve. As a supervisor, I exhibit effective time management and organizational skills in developing and coordinating activity schedules and goals, and maintaining progress notes. In my position as supervisor, I am responsible for training and mentoring staff as well as acting as a liaison between my clients and their caretakers.
