My field practicum as a part of my MSW education. I advocated on the local and state level for policy to address education equity and school discipline reform through testimony both written and oral. I fostered and maintained partnerships between a charter school operator, 5 partner schools, and individual school communities to address student, family, and community needsMoreover, I assisted with projects and program oversight/implementation in school and neighborhood settings with trained School Social Workers, Community School Coordinators, and After-School Program Coordinators. I also developed projects aimed at neighborhood outreach and increasing school enrollment and identified relevant grant opportunities to provide further support for schools.

Bloomington, Indiana Area

In a community non-profit, I facilitated youth groups using the evidence-based Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) with juvenile offenders as part of day treatment/alternative-to-detention programming. I worked as a home-based case manager, with a particular focus on life skills development with youth and families involved in the child welfare and juvenile probation systems. Finally, I performed visit facilitation to ensure safe parent/child bonds and encourage positive interactions with families who are involved in these systems.

Worked in direct support at a youth shelter providing services to at-risk youth. I performed shelter client intakes, coordinated shelter activities, and de-escalated problem situations using crisis intervention.

Internship as a part of my BSW education. I worked under trained Family Case Managers to provide services and support to families in the Child Welfare system. Gathered evidence and prepared reports to be delivered to the court for cases.
