As an analyst in the Fiscal Policy and Administration Unit of the Office of the Secretary of the Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) I performed multidisciplinary duties ranging from human resources administration to general policy/program analysis. My duties included: Conducting analyses of Secretary's Action Requests such as legislatively-mandated reports, reorganization plans, grant award proposals; and I analyzed proposed legislation, chaptered statutes, and the state Code of Regulation. I compiled desk manuals, developed and executed the state records retention schedule, and performed other state-mandated administrative tasks. As the personnel liaison for the 35-person Labor Secretary's Office, I administered the Office's internal human resources programs including conducting the civil service competitive examination and merit-based hiring system, including sitting on or overseeing all interview panels; processing Governor's personnel appointments to executive positions; analyzing changes to the labor contracts (memorandums of understanding and side letters) and ensuring contract compliance; ensuring compliance with legislation and state policies; ensured equal employment opportunity; counseling management on human resources affairs; served as the training coordinator; promoted health and safety programs; administered position control and routing personnel payroll/benefits transactions.
