I was born on a dark and stormy night on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Jan of 1987...Too far back? 1st full-time job: Framing contractor from age 14-21 years old - building upscale homes for upscale people. Cutting, carrying, and strategically putting wood together for money and the satisfaction of a job well done. Taught me how to bleed, sweat, and never complain. 2nd: "Chief Dan" at Deerfoot Lodge in the Adirondack Mountains (21 & 22) leading expeditions into the mountains and rivers of northern NY. Teaching, training, and mentoring young men to lead lives that honor Christ and serve their fellow man, while learning how to do that myself. Learned: Wilderness survival and campcraft skills and the joy of the outdoors.3rd: Intern > Manager > VP of Advancement for CompassCare (a Christian nonprofit in NY) from age 23-36. My first "indoor" job and one that taught me too many things to list - how to run a good meeting, how not to have too many metrics, the importance of mission, exposure to great books, how to manage paid and unpaid staff, public speaking, PR, HR, media engagements (over 100 interviews in 8 months), event planning and execution, fundraising, process development, and the importance of setting boundaries between family and ministry. 4th: President of BMH Solutions (current endeavor) - jumping into the deep end of building a business that provides the platform and tools businesses need to take control of their recruiting and hiring.
