CurrentOversee fisheries management for over one hundred MPAs in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Zanzibar.Draft enforcement and compliance plans for each MPA in collaboration with local teams, and supervised local MPA teams in their organisation, standard operating procedures, work plans, and reporting.Build capacities and assist in the growth and development of in-country teams.Guide sustainable fishery activities within and beyond our Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and assist in implementing their enforcement and compliance plans.Develop and manage effective fishery monitoring programmes to assess the impact of MPAs.Design and execute data collection initiatives for fish abundance, diversity, fishing effort, fish stocks, and by-catch.Conduct socio-economic analyses of fisher programmes and stayed updated with fishery regulations for each MPA, providing legislative recommendations.Implement regular assessments of the impact of our MPAs on fisheries and resource monitoring programmes involving local fishers, communities, and visitors.Support fisher households with activities such as farming of mangrove crabs, sea cucumber, and over-exploited species, and improved supply chains.Provide technical support to external contractors for small-scale aquaculture projects and conduct research to improve fishery sustainability, including testing fishing gear to reduce by-catch and implementing temporary species bans.Assist in broader conservation topics with local and international teams including BRUV, coral monitoring, water quality, alternative livelihoods, and marine debris.
