About Daniel Crawford
ML Engineer currently working in the supply chain space focusing on fulfillment operations. I like to put on a lot of different hats so I have worked in Machine Learning, Optimization, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Software Engineering and ML-Ops. My most proud achievements so far are leading the development of the Fulfillment Optimization (FO) simulation at Nike, as well as leading the expansion for FO into EMEA while maintaining operations in NA. In terms of AI/ML, my favorite projects would have to be training a UNet given extremely large unlabelled data, using XGBoost and SHAP values to find explainability in non-linear features, and deploying NNs using torchserve and SageMaker. Envisioned a product for our client using computer vision algorithms and ML to identify defects within trading cards. Presented an intuitive demo to stakeholders demonstrating usefulness of product to customers. Utilized OpenCV for preprocessing images, extracting features, constructing a synthetic training set. Developed with PyTorch a tool for training and testing a model which would output segmentation masks identifying POIs. Integrated model with SageMaker, kept running costs low (less than $500 a month).

Conducted experiments which attempted to extract non-linear features from our data for predicting auto insurance premiums. Utilized Spark and XGBoost to find performance gains by using a more complex boosting model to find useful features. Presented findings using intuitive visualizations libraries such as Plotly.
