Agriculture to me is more than a job, but a lifestyle. I grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, a place defined by being the cherry capital of the world, and thus I have been surrounded by an agricultural atmosphere for all my life. As new issues arise and complicate the agricultural field it is imperative that we work together and find new solutions, so that cultures like the one that I grew up in continue to thrive. I hope to become a lead researcher within the animal industry focusing on researching biotechnology and genetics to find solutions to agriculture's upcoming problems. My Strengths:Context: I am driven to understand the past so I can better acknowledge the future. Reading scientific articles and developing background knowledge on topics often directs me to new questions that I want to investigate. Learner: I am intrigued by how science can teach us new things about the world.Analytical: Understanding the drivers behind certain processes fascinates me. Many of the world's problems could be better understood if we all were to look scientifically at what is driving them.Harmony: I look to deliberate with others to fix issues and solve problems. Science in its nature is harmonious as it relies on previous studies to look at and collaborate on new problems.Responsibility: I look to be candid through my work and oversee that I perform to agreed-upon standards. Being truthful and taking ownership is an ethical imperative while performing research.
