Role is to drive and execute the product and technology strategy, develop new offerings, markets, partnerships and acquisitions, lead the global security operations, service delivery, technical support and incident response as well as guide the alliances, corporate development and strategy efforts. The CPSO organization consists of Product Management, R&D, Business Development, Labs, AI/Data Science, Corporate Development and Security Awareness and Training. Also leads the Service Delivery program which includes the Arctic Wolf Security Services (S2), Incident Response and Global Technical Operations.

Managed the Enduser Security Group, Network Security Group, Public Cloud Group, Messaging Security Group and the Cloud Platform Group. Sophos is a recognized industry leader in Endpoint Protection, EDR/XDR, Firewall and MDR. Part of the leadership team that brought Sophos to the Public Market with the June 2015 float on the London Stock Exchange and the subsequent transaction to be taken private by Thoma Bravo. Sophos Products Group is a global organization with teams located US, England, Germany, Netherlands, Hungary, India and Canada.

Led the cross functional business unit with a $700m P&L, marketing, engineering, product management and data center operations.

Led a team of over 400 developers, testers, program managers and architects responsible for developing the security infrastructure for Microsoft platform products including the Windows XP SP2, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server operating systems. This included Authentication, Authorization, Audit, Credential Management, Cryptography, System Integrity, Trusted Platform Module and Information Protection. I was the owner of Project Zeno, which encompassed many teams in Microsoft. This project was created by and reported to the Chief Software Architect Bill Gates and was designed to create the all up security strategy and architecture for the company. I presented the teams work and status on a monthly basis to Mr. Gates. Was a member of the Longhorn Executive team, charged with shipping the latest version of Microsoft Windows. Often represented Microsoft at key security conferences such as the RSA Security Conference and the Microsoft CSO Council.

Led the strategy efforts for E&D which includes mergers and acquisitions and international business development. Drove the “Connected Entertainment” strategy effort for E&D which is a critical effort designed to leverage all of the entertainment assets in a way that provides a unique competitive advantage to Microsoft. Was also responsible for developing the strategic framework for which all strategy in E&D is conducted. The team developed the gap analysis for defining M&A activities and portfolio management for the division. Leveraged my balanced technical and business skills to bring a fresh perspective to strategic planning at Microsoft.

Led the change in strategy direction and the increased focus on quality, security and cost efficacy for the Microsoft Passport service. Passport was the world’s largest authentication service with over 300 million subscribers and over 1 billion authentications per day. Reduced the cost to operate the service by over $25 million per year and increased the availability from 98% to 99.99%. In addition, drove the strategic shift that turned Passport into a more viable strategic product for MSN and Microsoft. During my tenure, Passport enjoyed one of the strongest security records in the industry including being the first web service to be pass an audit by the Federal Trade Commission for security. Also led successful negotiations with the European Union in regards to privacy issues with Passport.

Grew the company quickly and successfully raised two rounds of funding, including key strategic investors such as Sony Electronics, Sony Music and Sony Pictures. Was named one of the “Most Influential People in Streaming Media” in 2002 by Streaming Media Magazine. Company was sold to L3 MobileVision.

Responsible for all strategic planning and business development activities for PictureVision and Kodak Network Services on a worldwide basis. Played a key role in the Eastman Kodak acquisition of PictureVision.

Was a flagship member of the organization created at Informix to work with, and create strategies for, new high tech areas in which Informix Software would compete. Was responsible for delivering the architecture of object relational database.

Participated in the design and implementation of the Application Services, Business Support System, Marketing, and User Interface pieces of Interactive TV (ITV) systems for British Telecom, Tele-TV/Bell Atlantic, PacTel and BellSouth. Worked on the Addressable Advertising system, the world’s first one to one directed advertising system. Managed the User Interface team, which is responsible for the development of front-end applications for ITV network and content providers and included the development of the User Interface development tools and he participated in the development of the custom set top box operating system.
