Member of the Aquatic Contaminants Division. Studied the effects of substituted phenylamines on benthic freshwater invertebrates including mussels, hyallela and tubifex. Gained experience with animal culturing methods. Performed assays for protein content, reactive oxygen species content/damage and behavioural abnormalities.

Designed and carried out research on the predatory interactions between marine mussel populations and sea star populations. Worked with industrial backing from the aquaculture sector. Also looked at methods of epibiont removal from mussel shells. Gained confidence developing methodology, performing statistical analysis, and trouble shooting experimental shortfalls.

Worked as a statistical analyst within the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) division validating large data sets using SAS and SPSS. Developed programs for future streamlining of data quality validation. Also played a role in testing and developing survey methodology. Gained experience implementing health statistics into scientific research.
