I was an IT engineer for many but got so fed up with not being able to see out of a window I was desperate for a change. Always preferred to get my hands dirty so went into construction.Started as a gate man / traffic marshall. then took a slinger course because I liked the look of what Bachy were doing on the site I worked at. was actually my first ambition within the industry to work for Bachy. Moved onto groundwork with a slinger ticket and quite quickly became useful. worked on Tideway as a civils slinger. Then into the shaft team. worked at the top and put bottom. moved onto a different Tideway site as a pit bottom man.Took a job at Bachy after being tipped off they needed men. worked away on HS2 in Leamington Long Itchington digging the Dwall for the tunnel that followed. Primarily as a Hydrofraise banksman.Then onto Bromford East for more of the same.Family reasons brought me back to London on Riverlinx, digging the the reception box for the what will be the tunnel entrance from the Greenwich. Working away from home came calling again but I couldn't go and had leave Bachy.worked on the Southern section briefly as a slinger and fork lift banksman before the plug got pulled.moved onto Beckton DLR depot extension as a senior slinger and banksman.Just finished a stint of 6 months on the Rivenhall Project Waste to Energy recycling plant. 5 crane job and a busy RC frame site.
