Expert-Leader of the Business Strategy and Generation and Transmission Planning practices:- Led the release of the company’s first-ever commercial software based on my previously developed optimization tools currently in use by policy makers of a European country and as part of the electric dispatch process in Saudi Arabia.- Managed two major cross-country energy integration projects in Latin America (Andean countries) and South Asia (India and neighbouring countries) aimed to explore the benefits of energy resources sharing. - Consultant to all mayor IFIs (WB, IFC, EIB, ADB, EBRD, AfDB, IDB, CAF) and private banking institutions seeking for advice in the energy sector, both regarding the generation sector and PXs all over the world.- On the other side, I have advised major EU, Russian and Asian utilities to develop strategies to secure their finance and evaluate their investment opportunities on thermal, hydro and renewable assets.- Calculated the benefits of the optimal regulation and delivery of ancillary services in the electricity generation in Guatemala and Saudi Arabia. These projects aimed to assure that proper economic signals were received by GenCos and TransCos so as to achieve an efficient system operation.- Assisted a leading European utility in a conflict with the energy regulator regarding changes in legislation affecting their expected revenue stream.- Led a study that defined the characteristics that simulations tools should gather in order to optimize electricity system expansion with high penetration of renewable sources. This study included an evaluation of commercially available tools and a test-case simulation of the Maghreb region.- Developed cost-of-service and tariff studies in several African countries including the development of a strategy and action plan to scale up the use of economically viable Renewable Energy resources.

- Identified and evaluated opportunities for several firms interested to invest in the energy sector in Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa, Caucasus and EU.- Calculated the benefits of energy cooperation and renewable sources development in a multi-country assignment in central Asia.- Participated in the analysis of efficient rules for the RE support mechanisms (RPS and FIT).- Helped an Euro-Asian transmission system operator to provide the correct signals to agents in order to incentive their optimal participation in the AS mechanisms and to correctly monitor their behaviour through advanced IT systems.- Implemented the standardization of processes and systems across ÅF-Mercados EMI’s offices for a better utilization of the modelling resources pool achieving the reduction of project execution times.- Led training on the company’s simulation tools both internally and at clients. Organized and led the annual knowledge sharing sessions across several office (Madrid, Edinburgh, Ankara, Moscow and New Delhi) facilitating exchange of expertise and junior staff training.

- Created and handled a complex quantitative model to optimize energy utilities’ decisions by maximizing their profits and minimizing their risks under different market scenarios. This model has become ÅF-Mercados EMI’s simulation tool flagship and is used on all offices worldwide.- Developed long term strategic and business plans for energy generation and transmission at leading European, Asian and Russian energy utilities.- Modelled electricity prices in different markets (EU, Central America, Turkey, Philippines and Central Asia) for both the short and the long term, allocating water resources using Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming.- Interviewed, recruited and mentored new hires in Madrid office.- Coached fellow team members on modelling skills.

- Assisted the consultancy team in various projects in Europe and Middle East.- Developed an optimization tool based on supply function equilibria in order to estimate the possible non-competitive behaviour of agents in electricity markets. The tool improved the results as compared to other methodologies (Cournot or Bertrand models) by closer mimicking the expected market results and agents' performance.
