In this position I have supported former company president George Tanner and his successor Benjamin Eshleman, III in various activities related to oil and gas prospect development, oil and gas operations, in situ uranium mining, litigation support and other related matters. Duties have included complex negotiations, document drafting, TRRC and TCEQ compliance, assisting outside council with discovery and pretrial litigation related issues, assisting with prospect presentations to potential investors, pipeline ROW negotiations, exploration agreements, AAPL form Joint Operating Agreements, enforcing lease and contract compliance with third party operators on Mesteña non operated working interests, corresponding with interest owners in Mesteña operated prospects and updating divisions of interest as necessary, coordinating with various outside specialists on land and legal work to ensure that Mesteña client interests are handled in a timely and efficient manner, & providing quarterly legal updates to the Mesteña Board of Directors. My tenure at Mesteña has ultimately resulted in my assistance with the negotiation and documentation of the sale of all Mesteña working interests in both oil and gas as well as uranium and the winding down of Mesteña as an active operating company. This position has provided me with ample opportunity for growth and development and has broadened my exposure to and understanding of the oil and gas industry.

I was introduced to the oil and gas industry through a couple of land acquisition projects run by the speculative lease play architect Greg Kane shortly after taking the bar exam. In this capacity my duties consisted of finding and leasing open interests in proven fields. Over five years as an independent Landman, I acquired a broad base of experience working various projects for a number of clients on assignments that generally involved complex title issues. This work has included mineral and surface title, curative, due diligence, and lease acquisition. I have worked in courthouses in both Texas and Louisiana. I have run title, created run sheets, performed title curative, negotiated oil and gas leases, prepared documents, performed freedom of information act research, and have often excelled in finding creative solutions to various research problems. Clients have included Derwin Resources, Sherwood Resources, Greg Kane, WES Energy, Paul Staton, Morris J. Creighton, SKH, Fairways Energy, and others.

As an intern to Judge Gary Michael Block I observed the inner workings of a court and was able to gain a unique perspective on the judge’s decision making process. This allowed me to view the litigation process in a way not easily conveyed through classroom instruction.

Under the guidance of retired Marine Staff Judge Advocate Brad Gammell, my duties included researching legal authorities, drafting pleadings and motions, and working on discovery related tasks

Developed leadership skills working with high-risk adolescents confined to county-run placement facilities as a result of criminal activity. In this position I supervised every aspect of the lives of confined juveniles. Duties included academic assistance, personal life skills advice, and emergency conflict resolution.

During four years as an active duty enlisted Marine I developed skills and self discipline, as well as a general drive to succeed, which have served me well in my subsequent endeavors. I was honorably discharged at the completion of my contract, at which time I had a reenlistment eligibility rating of 1-A.
