I like to contribute to the betterment of society, without actually having to touch society. That's placed me in a pickle over the years. I've traditionally solved this by working for not-for-profit companies, with a strong commitment to their local communities in both mission and deeds.I used to manage people, and while I enjoyed working with them, it quickly dawned on me that I didn't like "managing" them. After many years, an opportunity presented itself which allowed me to shift from a management career back to my roots as a techie....and so, over the past 18 months I have been able to rekindle my love for messaging systems (Exchange / Lync), scripting languages, and even data aggregation and analysis with Splunk. I've also recently been given the opportunity to brush up on my SQL skills. Life is good.One of my favorite people was Albert Einstein, and it's really tough to pick out a favorite quote. The man was just pure genius. I guess I would have to pick something relevant to my current situation: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." Thanks Al.One of my favorite books is "The Runaway Robot" by Lester Del Rey. It's not a great work of art, but it's a good read from my childhood.One of my favorite short stories is "The Last Question" by Isaac Asimov.
