Oversight includes management of SMS’ $900MM+ active portfolio of performing and non-performing loans including all Joint Venture relationships with public and private institutions. While the overall operational leadership of SMS remains a key role, primary focus centers on the design and maintenance of SMS’ future growth strategy. Duties include overseeing all aspects of business development and acquisition loan analytics. In addition to fostering new business leads, Mr. Shorr is responsible for the management and analysis of underwriting distressed debt portfolios. Since 2004, Mr. Shorr and his team have underwritten over 40,000 commercial loans/judgments with a book value of more than $8 Billion.

Mr. Shorr joined SMS Financial in April of 2004. In his current role as Managing Director, Mr. Shorr is responsible for achieving and sustaining the growth strategy for SMS. His directive includes oversight of all business development, underwriting analysis, portfolio metrics and profitability projections, as well as leading and managing the acquisitions team. During Mr. Shorr’s tenure managing the growth strategy of SMS, he has successfully assisted in closing acquisitions of over $2 Billion in debt obligations spanning across all commercial asset classes. Mr. Shorr also has extensive experience in litigation oversight, foreclosure management, settlement negotiations and real estate liquidation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Rhode Island and an MBA from Bryant University.

Senior Asset Management duties include; active collections of commercial loans, litigation oversight, investigation, real estate liquidation and asset valuation analysis. While operating within this roll, Mr. Shorr managed a portfolio of 250+ loans and was responsible for achieving the maximum recovery for each loan.As the Director of Acquisitions, Mr. Shorr served as the liaison between distressed debt sellers and SMS. His primary duties were to source active relationships while also underwriting and pricing debt portfolios. Within this roll, Mr. Shorr underwrote thousands of commercial loans across all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.
