My primary professional goal is to use data to improve the quality of people's lives. I stumble towards this goal through teaching, mentoring, and research. I have been teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level mathematics, statistics, and programming courses since 2009 (teaching assistant, adjunct instructor, visiting professor, assistant professor, and now associate professor). During this time, I have been fortunate to work with an amazing team of colleagues as Co-PI on two National Science Foundation grants related to providing equitable support for low-income, first generation, and students who are underrepresented in STEM fields. Much of my research has been related to rural education and the ways in which it intersects with mathematics education. I've consulted as a quantitative analyst for the Rural School and Community Trust since 2011. In that role, I have presented widely and been a regular author on the biennial report, Why Rural Matters.
