I am studying for a degree in IST Maintenance Technology at Elgin Community College and during my time here I have been able to get great experience in many different aspects in the IST field.During my time here I have spent time working on Pneumatic systems, understanding how to trouble shoot these systems and the separate components that compile these systems.Along with Pneumatics I also worked on Hydraulic systems where I also would trouble shoot these systems and the components that made the unit.With working on schematics on fluid power, I also worked on electrical diagrams, and would wire anywhere from 24v to 480v systems.Working on these schematics gave me a great understanding of ladder logic that I later applied to programming PLC's where I programmed different types of systems such as SLC500 and 5000'sBut PLC's weren't the only machines I operated on, I also did metal working with both hand tools, and metal fabrication tools such as a Drill Press, Lathe, and Mill.The other form of metal working that I learned was welding. During my time I learned how to weld with Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, TIG, and Arc Welding as well.Learning all these skills has made me a well rounded technician that has great people skills, ability to work in any team, and can make hard decisions on the spot.
