I lead the corporate practice at Capstone, a policy analysis firm that helps investors and corporate leaders gain a line of sight on policies/regulations that could impact their businesses.

• Principal defense and foreign policy advisor to the House Majority Leader. • Analyze and inform Congressional leadership on major geopolitical developments; develop congressional messaging and advocacy on foreign policy matters; and manage all aspects of national security-related legislation moving through the House, including the annual defense and intelligence authorization bills. • Engage daily on behalf of the Majority Leader with Congressional Republicans, the Executive Branch, NGO communities, and foreign governments on policy and regulatory issues. Particular focus on sanctions, disaster and crisis response, and human rights.

• Provided strategic counsel to Ranking Member and 20 other Democratic Committee Members on legal and national security matters.• Drafted, negotiated, and helped pass major pieces of legislation through the House, including 2010 Iran sanctions legislation and Pakistan assistance bill. • Distilled complex problems into digestable material for senior decision makers, including on matters related to sanctions, authorization of force, and foreign assistance.

• Served as primary lawyer to the Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict directorate of the Department of Defense. Worked closely with Counterterrorism and Partnership Strategy offices. • Quickly navigated large bureaucracy and built relationships with key senior officials through timely, proactive legal counsel.
