In this role I regularly design and implement lessons on a wide range of subjects aimed at various students with special educational needs. Throughout I must plan and organise the delivery of lessons across the academic year.As lead lecturer I must oversee and evaluate the implementation of the curriculum across the department identifying any improvements which are required.I deliver training in autism awareness across departments and campuses.Within my lessons I direct and manage personal assistants and learning support assistants within the classroom so that the needs of the students in the class are effectively met.I am responsible for maintaining the standards of good behaviour of our students throughout the department.I present and promote the department and its courses offsite.I initiate and put together draft education healthcare plans. I also organise and lead on annual reviews. I consistently liaise and communicate regularly with carers, support workers, social workers, external departments and parents to ensure that the college is fully able to support the needs of each student in its care.I regularly organise and attend meetings with parents, carers, social workers and colleagues.I answer outside queries regarding the department over the phone or via email.Throughout I am regularly updating and developing my own knowledge in a range of subject areas so that I am fully able to deliver a wide range of lessons.I am continually evaluating and developing, with the aid of the department team, the use of the curriculum and its application within the classroom.I mentor and provide guidance and assistance to new lecturers who join the department.I Interview applicants for support workers to assess their suitability for the class room.I interview and assess the suitability of potential students.I constantly attend training to update and learn new skills which will help me to develop myself and improve my teaching practice.

My position as lecturer is within the Foundation Skills Department of the college in which I deliver lessons to students across various ages and abilities. Within the department, I further specialise in teaching students who possess learning disabilities. I have developed myself in the role to effectively plan and deliver lessons to students who possess various obstacles to learning and work towards developing their core skills such as literacy and numeracy. I also take it upon myself to broaden their knowledge base with such subjects as history, geography and biology current to the national curriculum.I plan and design lessons which are catered to my student’s needs and the individual abilities within the class. Within special needs classes this requires me to take each individual's difficulty into account when planning lessons for them.I supervise and direct volunteers and work experience students within the lessons. I direct and keep learning support assistants on task throughout my class and communicate effectively with them so that their presence within the classroom is effectively managed and the needs of the students are catered for.I continually attend training sessions to develop my knowledge and ability in a range of areas such as first aid, autism awareness and in providing medical assistance. This has allowed me to gain such certificates in First Aid at Work and Anaphylaxis First Aid.Throughout my role, I liaise with colleagues and other staff to effectively meet the educational needs of my students and regularly attend meetings to help further plan and develop our lesson strategies.Within my current role, I also have the flexibility to work one to one and with classes of young adults with special needs. I assist in the delivery of their education and the application and delivery of the lesson, as well as the maintenance of learning and behaviour within the classroom.

Within this role, I planned and delivered educational lessons that were relevant to the curriculum of those school classes who visited the Museum. Most classes were between key stage 1 and 3 and the lessons centered on the history of the Museum’s building and Victorian living within the East end of London. Throughout, school groups were encouraged to interact with objects within the Museum under my guidance. I provided tours of the Museum building and the Museum’s collection for visitors of all ages and school groups. I also worked within a team to plan, organise and participate in delivering workshops and themed events to all visitors.I further taught classes and delivered tours to school groups who visited from outside the UK and for whom English was a second language.My tasks also included assisting within the Museum shop, being responsible for the stock, helping to maintain the area and conducting sales.I was a point of contact within the Museum, guiding visitors, answering queries and welcoming those who visited the Museum. I further recorded visitor data for the Museum. I also supervised film crews and photographers wishing to use the Museum a set. I acted as security for the Museum, keeping a check on the collections and patrolling the Museum grounds at all times.

Within this role, I worked in the Natural History Museum within the Palaeontology department assisting on a project. This project aimed to look at how climate change in the past affected the environment. My duties included working within a team to curate and process a large collection of specimens which came into the museum’s possession. This included the cleaning and cataloguing of the specimens, which allowed me to acquire a new set of skills in handling delicate museum collections.Throughout, I also presented the project to the general public who visited the museum. I interacted with and informed visitors of the purpose and aims of the project, conducted general talks, answered queries and educated visitors of all ages on the project I was associated with and natural history as a whole.

Throughout my role at the Kensington Palace, I assisted in the delivery of educational based activities to children, families and adults alike. I informed those who visited the events on various subjects and themes on the history of the Palace and assisted in the delivery of educational activities throughout the Palace’s events. I aided in organising and setting up events, promoting and attracting visitors to the proceedings as well as delivering theme-based activities to members of the public who attended.Throughout, I was a welcoming presence to visitors at the museum, being genial and communicative to all who visited Kensington Palace. I was also a point of contact to all individuals, answering both questions and enquiries. Thus this role required me to learn a lot of information so that I could effectively deliver this to the general public.

I assisted in planning, organising and participating in delivering educational events focused upon conservation and London wildlife themes to school groups and visitors to the nature reserve. I organised and created displays with objects from the nature reserve’s collection for those who visit the environment. I participated in events for the reserve during days, evening and weekends.I conducted tours of the site to visitors and school groups, answering queries and educating them on London wildlife and conservation issues. Throughout I attended training sessions to develop my knowledge in conservation and to gain new skills, thus was trained in first aid and species identification.I expanded my participation at the London Wildlife Trust to represent them on the Flexible Learner scheme which was developed for young adults who are not achieving academically and are in danger of falling out of employment and education. Throughout this scheme I trained challenging young adults in conservation and tool use at outside nature reserves.I assisted the Trust in maintaining and conserving the nature reserve and assisting on outside conservation projects in council estates, cemeteries and public grasslands. I also supervised film crews and photographers who visited the site and took them on small boats to film and photograph wildlife.I worked on projects within this site, assisting in developments such as the building of clay ovens and a kingfisher bank. I also welcomed visitors to the site and frequently worked within the reception, interacting and guiding visitors and answering phone calls as well as monitoring visitor levels.
