At a time when the arts have been tremendously impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, The Northern Colorado Youth Orchestra was brought into existence thanks to the efforts of dedicated parents, students, and teachers looking toward a brighter future for musicians of all ages and ability levels in the Larimer County region and beyond.​The purpose of this organization is to give students an opportunity to create music in-person in a safe environment in order to support the efforts of Orchestra Teachers at the Middle and High School levels in the Poudre, St. Vrain, Thompson, and Weld County Districts, Local Private Teachers, and Homeschool families throughout the region.​Students will also have the opportunity to learn from a variety of conductors, which will be contracted from local school districts, professional organizations, and academic institutions. Many students learn from only one to two music teachers between middle school and high school. One of our primary objectives is to showcase the amazing music educators and professional conductors that Northern Colorado is honored to have with our three ensembles.​As time progresses and circumstances change, our vision of Inspiring Harmony for Tomorrow, will be at the forefront of our work with our students in order to impart critical life skills, relentless perseverance, and empathy for all walks of life. Through the power of music education, we can leave the world a little better than we found it.

While at Lucile Erwin Middle School, responsibilities have included teaching seven sections of orchestra, two sections of computer literacy, and leading the Advanced Chamber Strings, an advanced ensemble for students on track to study music at the college level. In three years, the program has grown from 50 students in 2013 to 100 students in 2014 and currently stands at 150 students during the 2015-16 school year. For the 2016-17 school year, enrollment is nearly 200 students from 6th through 8th grade. At every competition for the last three years, students have earned Gold Medals, Superior Ratings, or First Place depending on the rating system. Most recently, the Advanced Chamber Strings earned perfect scores competing against High School orchestras at the Northern Colorado Large Group Orchestra Festival.

As a staff sergeant and ensemble leader, responsibilities include performing as the Principal Bassist for the 101st Army Band, Mile High 101 Rock Combo, directing the 101st Army Jazz Combo, and guiding the military careers of several Specialists and Sergeants. Selected multiple years as a candidate for Soldier of the Year, the rank of Sergeant was achieved in four years from the time of enlistment, and Staff Sergeant within six years, which was earned through numerous military awards, sustaining a high Physical Fitness Test score, and by leading performances with the 101st Jazz Combo, including missions to the 9/11 Memorial Ceremonies and the State of the State Address in Washington D.C. In the summer of 2013, the status of C1 was attained at Advanced Leaders Course for achieving an outstanding audition score of 32, with the requirement for sergeants and staff sergeants being 24.

Since 2005, The Arco/Pizzicato Music Studio has welcomed students ranging from absolute beginners in Elementary School through Post-Doctoral and Non-Traditional Adult Learners. Within the studio, students can learn Beginning through Intermediate technique on Violin, Viola, or Cello, and Beginning through Advanced / Professional technique on Double Bass and Electric Bass. Having performed a wide range of musical literature, students have the opportunity to learn the musical languages of jazz, classical, rock, funk, and everything in between! Students are frequently selected for Section Leader and Principal Positions both in Orchestral and Jazz Ensembles, as well as in District, State, and International Ensembles such as the Young Bassist's Program at the International Society of Bassists Conference in 2015.

As the Music Education GTA, responsibilities included coordinating the CSU Summer Kodaly Masters Program, co-teaching MU286: Music Education Practicum, designing the state-wide Kodaly newsletter, and presenting research and activities on the element of surprise in the Elementary Music Classroom at the Colorado Music Educators Conference at the Broadmoor Hotel in January 2013. As the Jazz GTA, responsibilities included performing as the Principal Bassist for Jazz Ensemble I and Jazz Combo I, teaching two sections of MU310: Jazz Combos II and III, teaching the elements of jazz improvisation, harmony, and form, coordinating concerts for two Jazz Ensembles and three Jazz Combos, and assisting as the Cover Conductor for Jazz Ensemble II.
