Hi, my name is Daniel Soh, and I am a junior at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am majoring in Information and Technology Systems, and plan to get a Bachelor's degree in this field. In the future, I hope to become a Product Manager, or a CEO of my own company if I have the opportunity. During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to work at 2 part-time jobs. My first part-time job was at the food courts of H-mart. At this job, I worked as a cashier, dish washer, and food prepper. As a first job, I was expecting to have a calm and relaxing experience but the first couple weeks were very rough. I had a hard time trying to do dishes, then serve food, and then take orders immediately afterwards. But after the first couple weeks of doing the same thing, I decided to try and change my approach on the way I did certain tasks. Instead of waiting around for the dish to finish cooking, I would instead use that time to get the side dishes and utensils ready so that I could take the food out right after the dish was finished. By doing this and utilizing my time more efficiently, busy hours did not seem too busy, and I was always able to finish all my tasks on time. Unfortunately, right as I started to get more used to this environment, I was replaced by full-time workers. So shortly afterwards, I was able to find another job as a server at Midori Sushi. In this environment, things were much more difficult as I had to do lots of physical labor, and also talk with customers much more. But this allowed me to work on my social skills, and talk in a friendly and approachable manner. Additionally, I was also able to improve my time management even more by having more keener sense of my surroundings. During my time at UTD, I wish to make many new connections, and also learn more about my major, and new useful skills. Ultimately, I hope to be able to graduate with all the knowledge to be able to start a business, and a good resume to find many good jobs.
