During my time at Cordell, which acquired ASR Technology in 2009, I have become a key member of the Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) team and have been working on various projects conducted from our head office based in Stockton, as well as contracted out to work on a number of customer sites.I an also a member of the on call team, which involves providing call out and maintenance support for CCP (Customer Care Program) contracts.

During this period at ASR Technology my role changed to Project Manager. This involved acting as project manager for a number of successful turn key projects mainly in the Oil & Gas and Chemical/Petrochemical sector of the industry.My responsibilities entailed all aspects of managing projects including coordinating a team of engineers, the finances, procurement, design, implementation, scope changes and interfacing with the client. All work carried out followed a project life cycle and QA system.

Continued with my previous role, however with the engineering department growing, my title changed to Senior Systems Engineer. I still conducted the design and implementation of projects, however a lead engineering role when working on larger projects with teams of engineers.During this period I embarked on a number of projects in many different Industries including Oil and Gas, Chemical, Water, Metals, Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical and Building Management.

Continued with my previous role as Technical support Engineer, however my title was changed to Systems Engineer.It was at this point in my career that I started to get involved with the design, development and implementation of SCADA systems and integrating with intelligent IO controllers, instrumentation and PLC's.This involved working to a Project Life Cycle and QMS, of which I helped develop.

At the end of my 4 year apprenticeship with ICI, it transpired that there weren't any placements for Instrument Technicians available, therefore I took the opportunity to work for a new company startup called ASR Technology Ltd. (supported by IDEC Projects Ltd)My job role entailed providing technical support, maintenance and programming services for instrumentation such as indicators and controllers manufactured by TCS (now known as Eurotherm Process Automation) and Control Techniques (CRL).ASR also acted as a distributor for a company called Clean Air Engineering, which provided environmental emissions monitoring services. This involved travelling to various combustion sites around the UK to measure particulate and gas emissions using specialist test equipment and analysers.

During the course of my 4 year apprenticeship at ICI Wilton, I carried out the following tasks:-Installation of instrumentation involving the use of BSP, copper, traywork and cable runs, ie Analysers, DP Cells, Controllers and Control Valves.Calibration and repair of instrumentation such as DP Cells, Recorders, Indicators, Thermocouples, Analysers, Conductivity Meters, pH Meters, Dewpoint Meters, Drains, Samplers and Flow Meters.Fault finding, trip and alarm testing and general maintenance checks on Temperature, Level, Pressure, Flow and Vibration Systems.Overhaul of Control Valves such as Ball, Butterfly, Globe, Diaphragm types and their positioners.Repair and testing of gas detection equipment.Diagnosis and repair of faults in circuit boards and electronic equipment.
