Just Returned from Regents Park Marriott as the Head of Leisure and have come back to Swansea Marriott as the Leisure supervisor bring back lots of experience from Regents Park

When I started with the Marriott, I was a leisure associate, however within a year of commencement, I was promoted to leisure supervisor. As a supervisor I have many roles and responsibilities some of which are to look after the leisure club, whilst maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety of the facilities, making sure that guests, associates and the general public are safe. Working within my team, we have to make sure that all of our goals and targets are met, from inspections, to management of memberships, whilst all the time trying to increase membership. Every year I have achieved 90%+ on leisure audits, these cover 3 main key areas- H&S, sales and marketing and cleanliness of the club. One of my key achievements, is gaining 89% on a members survey on overall satisfaction of the club. Whilst working here and being part of the community, I put myself forward to take responsibility for fundraising events within the hotel. Some of these include coffee mornings, race nights, quiz nights and one of my main achievements was organizing a bike ride, from Swindon Marriott to Swansea Marriott, which we raised over £2,500 for our charity. My biggest achievement whilst working for the Marriott, is in 2007 I was voted newcomer and associate of the year and regularly since I have been voted for associate of the year. In 2011 I achieved associate of the year.

For 3 Month I worked on Taskforce in London Marriott Regents Park as Leisure Manager. This is a HOD position and has involved running a large Leisure Club, including running a team of 7 associates. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working as Leisure Manager and believe this position has given me invaluable experience in a HOD role.

Porthcawl

I worked as an entertainer in one of the largest holiday parks in the UK. My roles included organizing childrens activities from singing competitions to football matches. One of my main roles was to take control of the childrens club. On many nights I was given responsibility to compere and to take leadership of the 1200 seater venue. I was involved in many different shows, from character work to gameshows. Many different types of people came on holiday wanting to be entertained and I made sure that they went with a smile on their face. This is where I learnt most of my leadership skills and communication skills and learnt to do everything I do to the best of my ability.

Alton (Staffs)

Alton castle is a retreat centre for children who are deprived from the inner city Birmingham area to be shown how to work as a team and look at ways of overcoming difficulties and achieving their goals in life. During my time here, I was responsible for looking after 10-15 young adults at a times and taking them on activites such as archery, rock climbing and off road biking, to teaching them about the different values of life. My roles here were to make sure the health and safety of the children was paramount during their stay within the castle and to make sure they had a good time and learnt the different values that we taught them.

I gained 7 GCSE’s, including Mathematics and English. Whilst here I also passed the Duke of Edinburgh award. To gain this award some of the key skills I had to gain were volunteering, first aid, outdoor activites and leadership. I was also involved in productions and school shows, one of my main achievements was starring in the production of West Side Story. Whilst here I was very pleased to achieve the Cardinal Newman award for attendance.
