The Market Development team in Adult Social Care for SCC looks at all care for adults over 18. Previous to this commissioning role I have had experience as a management accountant in the NHS and have 16 years experience working as the company secretary and Finance manager in the charity sector (No Limits). As part of a commissioning team I currently monitoring six projects, large and small, I am also engaging the sector regarding a new Early intervention and prevention (EIP) contract due for tender in Oct 2024 with a start date of 1st Feb 2025.I have 16 years’ experience at a senior level in the charity sector having worked as a Company Secretary and Finance Manager for a Southampton Charity. In that role I was part of a team that took a small local charity from a £234k turnover to being consistently above £3.5 million per year grant income. During this time of rapid growth, income maximization and continued restructures of the budget, I remained flexible with a clear overview. I also lead on the changing governance procedures and controlled expenditure allowing the charity to continue to offer value for money to funders while expanding its support infrastructure and keep to (plus develop) all financial regulations and controls. This post gave me a broad experience of all aspects of charity financial control, reporting, budgeting and costing in real world terms for clear transparant grant/contract applications . Along with experience of payroll, pensions, funding bids/ statutory tenders and external reporting to funders how grants and contracts are spent. As Company Secretary I dealt with many governance and policy issues. As a senior manager I led on a number of HR issues regarding performance, investigation and disciplinary matters. I worked closely with the treasurer (trustee). Following a redundancy in January 2021 during the covid pandemic I was employed on a 12-month contract (maternity cover) as a Management Accountant working in the R&D team of the University Hospital of Southampton overseeing a section of the grants and studies run by the hospital research staff. I lead a team of five Financial Assistants. I am a positive person and flexible team player and leader. Self-motivated with ability to motivate others to achieve performance targets. I am an excellent communicator, confident trainer and manager of staff. My excel and wider Microsoft programs knowledge is good and continues to grow.I enjoy governance and am employed as a presiding officer looking after a busy polling station on election days.
