Key Responsibilities:· Working trackside with driver using data analysis and video footage to improve performance after each session.· Communicating feedback from driver to Chief Race Engineer, and deciding on appropriate car setup changes and driving technique if required.· Analysing data and video footage post-race to ensure car health in good order, or where gains could have been made.· Working with driver’s own DIL simulator to improve performance and circuit familiarity pre-race, creating circuit notes and lap videos showing ‘ideal’ technique.Notable Achievements:· Driver winning 2017 F3 Cup Championship.· Further improved previous damper model to simulate a full circuit and compare the change in grip for a given damper setting to a perfectly smooth circuit to find the optimal damping setup for a given wheel rate. This was done by combining MATLAB and SIMULINK environments.· Updating of previous DIL simulator model to match Dallara F308 behaviour and Pirelli tyres (old model used Dallara F307 and Avon/Cooper Tyres British F3 tyres), including aerodynamics and tyre modelling, correlation and test driving.The driver I have been engineering won the 2017 F3 Cup championship.

Key Responsibilities:· Aiding with setup application, general pre-race preparation such as wheel cleaning, and truck loading.· Aiding with measuring clutch plate wear, removing relevant components to access.· Design of third/heave element for Dallara F307.· Aiding with setup choices using Excel spreadsheets.· Post-race procedures, such as a set-down.· Aiding driver in the loop simulator development, working in areas such as mapping lateral force-slip angle graphs from real-world data using the tyre model previously developed, friction coefficients, tyre radius expansion due to rotation using MATLAB.· Development of suspension modelling. · Damping setup per race weekend, using the developed model.· Working with drivers to ensure driving ability and circuit familiarity improvement using the developed DIL simulator.· Working with drivers trackside using data analysis and video footage to analyse performance in each session.Notable Achievements:· Developed tyre model within Bosch WinDarab using equations formulated by Danny Nowlan.· Tyre model included Fz calculation using constant averaged CLA and aerodynamic balance from Excel spreadsheet, Fy and Fx calculation along with slip angles and slip ratios, and comparing these to the Magic Formula.· Learning of Bosch WinDarab software – e.g. writing configurations to cards, creating ‘desktops’, adding channels such as neutral steer, understeer gradient.· Developed a 2-DOF, quarter car damper model using MATLAB to analyse amplitude ratio of the upright at specified points on a circuit.· Race win at Spa-Francorchamps, where MATLAB damper model became operational. Backed up with usage of damper histograms.
