Design & Development Engineer (Npd)
- Using Catia V5 to design and detail complex composite components, which are structural and contribute to product aesthetics as cosmetic components.- Work with key suppliers to progress designs and manufacturing through development, certification and into production.- Engineering ownership of composite parts from several different manufacturers. Experience designing with VARTM, RTM & HP-RTM, Pre-preg (epoxy and phenolic, both autoclave and hot-press curing processes).- Managed the development testing of composite parts for static, dynamic (structural and HIC for EASA CS 25 certification) and flammability (FAR 25.823) requirements.- DFMEA for composite designs in NPD.-Extensive PFMEA of composite manufacture to improvement process quality. Undertakenwith multi manufacturers to ensure all components are within the allowed processlimitations, giving consistent certified components.-Test plan, report and test management of environmental testing for material certification toDO 160F.
Mechanical Design & Project Engineer
-Using Solidworks, designed automated, high performance packaging machinery for the FMCG industry. Design Engineering Intern
For my sandwich degree, I completed a 12 month internship with Airbus in their Future Projects (FPO) department. My main project during my internship was a landing gear weight estimation tool which used rule based geometry in Catia V5, controlled with VBScript and exported its geometry and OLEO data to Matlab to run the estimation script. The tool had the ability to automatically create geometry configurations, within set boundaries, and run the matrix as a batch script through the weight estimation script.
