Worked for Harkand Andrews Survey (previously Andrews Survey) as a Junior Hydrographic Offshore Surveyor. Have received training in programs such as EIVA NaviPac, Winfrog and the VisualSoft suite. Worked in the offshore environment onboard large vessels including construction, dive supoort and inspection vessels. The job required attention to detail and adaptability. Also have some experience of data processing with the VisualSoft suite of programs.

Shetland

Provided assistance to other members of the team with on-board survey work including the use of multibeam sonar, sub-bottom profiler, and underwater video camera system. Undertook data entry, processing, and management of collected data as well as data analysis. Analysis of underwater video footage to identify species and habitats of national and European importance. Worked as part of a small sampling team, during unsociable hours, to collect data to aid in fisheries stock assessments.

This was a European Union funded project looking at toxic algal blooms and trying to predict the events, also using rapid detection bio assay kits for the algal toxins. Presented the results of the project to scientists, industry representatives and the general public.Main duties included:• Environmental data analysis, dealing with large datasets and formatting them into a manageable format. • Responsible for the project budget and for ensuring that the project updates were reported correctly according to EU guidelines and the budget was adhered to.• Attend the project partner meetings as representative of the NAFC Marine Centre to present the data and other complex ideas in an understandable format.• Communication with the shellfish industry representatives to update them on the project and general day to day activities.
