I have 6 years of molecular biology techniques which include protein identification, western blot and immunohistochemistry. My research focuses on how the brain responds to low levels of oxygen, which can happen during traumatic events like stroke and/or heart attack. Using electroencephalography, I record neuronal activity to determine areas of limited activity in the brain and the overall response to low oxygen. Neuronal cell death has been my primary focus in understanding protein-protein interaction (specifically: NMDA receptor) and how metabolites (glucose and lactate) are utilized for energy. Using PCR, histology and ELISA techniques, my work has shown how neurons start cell death process and provides possible therapeutic targets for future studies.I am currently searching for opportunities in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries where I am challenged daily to help transition research from the bench to a working solution for all.
