I have been working with animals from a young age and have lots of experience working with and around both small animals and farm animals. I started my own sheep farm at the beginning of high school which I continue to manage to this day. Along with the farm, I also travel the state of Tennessee to shear sheep for other farmers. At the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, I have been working primarily with Farm animal and Equine services, particularly dealing with reproduction and research. I have learned to palpate, ultrasound, artificially inseminate, administer medications, and much more. I have also been involved in several animal research projects at the University of Tennessee involving goats, sheep, and cattle as well as laboratory tasks. My skills learned from the research include surgery assistant, tissue collection, monitoring recovery from surgery, Mixing hazardous chemicals, changing casts, and more.My primary goal is to attend veterinary school and become a veterinarian. In the meantime, I am looking for work experience and internships where I can expand my clinical experience and where I can be a valuable asset to my community.
