Community AnimatorHugh Garner Housing Co-Operative May 2010 - Sep 2010550 Ontario St, Toronto OntarioHugh Garner Housing Co-op boasts the largest residential green roof in North America. With funding from multiple organizations the amount of money raised by a social group was staggering. As a Community Animator I created and ran programs that focused on educating the members of the Co-op on the benefits of the Green Roof as well as a new, slightly invasive energy retrofit that was key to modernizing the housing development. Programs resulted in public forums on green initiatives in the Co-op as well as an increase in waste diversion, resulting in more garbage being recycled instead of ending up in the landfill.
