Daniel Chen Email and Phone Number
Having been at Grab for 10 years, I've had the privilege of being at the forefront of many of Grab’s efforts to drive Southeast Asia forward, alongside passionate Grabbers and nurturing leaders.2014: We were a startup helping passengers and taxi drivers connect. Small improvements made a big difference in the booking experience. As a hungry intern, I was tasked with integrating Singapore’s postal codes and Taxi Stand numbers into our system, simplifying pickup and drop-off location searches. I also helped roll out cashless bookings in Singapore.2016: Competition was heating up, and we formed alliances with ride-hailing companies globally. My team and I integrated with Lyft to enable cross-border ride-hailing. We flew to the US, collaborating with Lyft during the day and Grab at night. It was exhausting but incredibly rewarding.2017: Driver-partners were waiting too long for payments, and disbursements were manual. Working with Design, Engineering, and Business teammates, we integrated with banks and launched instant cashout in Indonesia. Today, those same payment rails are used for merchant settlements as well.2018: E-wallets were booming, and payments required regulatory compliance. Without licenses, we partnered with local e-wallet providers. Over the next two years, I led integrations to launch GrabPay regionally and built the wallet platform to manage balances for Consumers, Driver-Partners, and Merchants.2019: As Ride Hailing and Food Delivery grew, so did card payments volume. I took over the GrabLink product team, focusing on cost reduction. We migrated cards to our own PCI-compliant vault and routed transactions to the cheapest and most available acquirers.2021: To serve 1 in 2 everyday entrepreneurs, I transitioned to the Merchant product team, leading Onboarding, Reporting, and Store Operations.2023: I moved to the Fulfillment product team, where I’m responsible for using technology to solve Grab's fulfillment challenges by enabling fleet partners. These diverse experiences have sharpened my ability to solve real user problems, foster cross-functional collaboration, and drive innovation across domains.
