Full accountability for and leadership of a £50m turnover division of Select Plant Hire, part of the Laing O’Rourke Group, comprising of a range of product lines from small tools through to general plant and excavation equipment. This role has a wide ranging scope including delivery of financial performance, active management and engagement in a positive health and safety culture and leadership and development of diverse team.Key initiatives carried out in this role include a merger of two existing divisions and subsequent restructure, resulting in the creation of a centralised hire desk function and rationalisation of the depot network to suit the current business needs. Review of supply chain and subsequent move from a fragmented approach to a single source.Identification of requirements for investment and selection of best value equipment manufacturers.

Operational responsibility for a £50m turnover division of Select Plant Hire, leading a team of 6 staff and 150 operatives. The Heavy Plant division is made up of a number of product lines including telehandlers, excavation, concrete pumps, formwork and heavy earth moving equipment. Key responsibilities in this role included responsibility for the weekly paid workforce, delivery of utilisation targets, development of capital investment plans based on workload forecast and client and supplier relationship management.The division also consists of fixed workshop operations across multiple depot locations along with a national network of field service engineers. My remit included overall responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of this service.
