At Proteus I was involved in a range of projects including sustaining capital works as well as expansion and other green-fields work. As a consultant, I was exposed to various clients and their respective operations which has provided a well-rounded knowledge base in the mining industry.My duties at Proteus included:• Project managing a number of detailed design projects;• Structural engineering detailed design and checking using a variety of methods and programs;• Client liaison;• Site visits for inspections and measurements;• Compiling of engineering calculations, engineering reports, scope of work documents and basis of design documentation;• Preparation of fee proposals and estimates;• Preparation of project trends and variations;• Discipline input into material take-off’s, study reports and schedules;• Interdisciplinary coordination within Proteus including personnel such as directors, supervisors, managers, engineers, drafters, document controllers and administration staff;• Organising social events as part of the Social Committee; and• Administrative duties as required.
