About Daniel Tiffany-Appleton
I am recent graduate of University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. I am currently in the Greater Boston area and am looking for a job in process engineering, specifically in process research and development as well as process improvement. At UC Davis, I gained a deep understanding with fundamentals like Fluid Dynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, and Reactor Kinetics. I obtained a good technical background in skills like drafting in CAD software, process simulation in Aspen Plus, and Statistical Data analysis in computer programs like MATLAB and Python. I also acquired a good foundation for process engineering with course work and projects in process development, unit operations, process control, and process safety. Outside of class, I volunteered as an undergrad researcher in the Adam Moulé Group. My main tasks were to create polymer films using spin coating techniques. I also measured different sample’s properties using different analytical techniques, like UV-Vis spectrometry and depth profiling. I was also challenged with different research projects relating to polymer film patterning. My main project was automating a photolithography process that the group had developed utilizing LabVIEW and various components. My time at UC Davis was also spent working for the local community theatre as a Lead Stagehand and as a Transit Driver for the campus bus system. As a Lead Stagehand, I utilized team management, leadership, and training to lead a group of stagehands to use and modify the lighting system and perform root cause analysis on various pieces of electrical and lighting equipment. I also implemented a maintenance guide and lessons and an inventory system for equipment. I also used CAD software to create technical drawings of the lighting and electrical system. As a Transit Driver, I refined my communication skills and time management skills to perform my tasks safety, efficiently, and on time. These work and volunteer experiences have helped me gain the skills I need to be adaptable professional, and I welcome the opportunities to connect, grow, and challenge myself. I can be reached at danieltiffanyappleton@gmail.com.
