Design and manufacturing of a steel tube space frame chassis for the use on our brand new competition ready electric formula style car.

Hapco (also American Flagpole) manufactures light and flag poles to be used all across America. This internship had a focus on the manufacturing aspects of mechanical engineering. While there, I created a full, true to scale plant layout in AutoCAD, and used this to create evacuation maps, emergency equipment maps, and to consider new equipment moves for six sigma waste reduction. I also used Autodesk Inventor to create 3D models of a steady rest, used to hold the center of spinning tubes, and reduce the chance of one coming loose from the turning chuck.

Summers and Winters Only (May - August, January)Steel Fab is a pressure vessel manufacturer, specializing in both stock and custom vessels.Summer IWhile there, I took inventory of both factories in preparation of a change in manufacturing location. I learned manufacturing processes, and became well versed in Autodesk Inventor and Vault.Summer III worked on creating new shipping drawings and procedures after customer complaints about damage on arrival. I also helped with the organization of the new plant.Summer IIII created and edited models and drawings to be sent to customers. I Wrote equipment operation procedures, and set the whole plant up with online drawing access.
