• Assists in strategic planning for department• Supervises the maintenance of shift schedules for the department resulting in a massive reduction in overtime• Mentors Battalion Chiefs and operational staff that report to the Battalion Chiefs• Assists in the development, training, and evaluation of personnel• Issues all disciplinary action • Manage IT infrastructure for department• Prudent fiscal steward of the budget • Responsible for all accident investigations, complaints, and incident reports• Manage the requisitions of supplies and keeps related records. Prepare and reviews forms, reports, schedules, and other administrative records and documents• Participate in the department’s medium and long range planning processes as they pertain to individual areas of responsibility • Ensures compliance and accuracy of payroll• Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of fire and emergency services• Acts as safety officer, incident commander or other command staff positions on large scale incidents• Perform all duties including firefighting, of the assistant chief during sick leave, time off, and vacation• Serve in an on-call capacity to respond to all emergencies and command all phases of fire and EMS operations, and other related duties• Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectives of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor work load, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement and review with superiors; direct the implementation of improvement and actives of divisions and programs to the assigned supervisor• Create and review after action reports for all large scale incidents• Serve in an operational role when required
