Professor Daniel Tsiddon (Dani) is an investor, an executive, and an economist. A long experience spanning academia, banking and venture capital provides Dani with a unique perspective on financial risk taking as well as on hedging and insurance. Dani is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs who build future outliers to enable a better financial ecosystem and healthier financial life for the excluded. In his role as Viola Fintech’s General Partner and Founder, he is harnessing his experience to help Fintech and Insurtech founders build their businesses while manage their risk and navigate the market. Notable portfolio companies include: Alviere, Grover, Insurify, Restless, Rewire, TRex.Previously, Prof. Tsiddon was the Deputy CEO and Member of the Executive Management at Bank Leumi (one of the two largest banks in Israel), where in 2006 he created the bank’s Capital Markets Division just to manage it successfully through the 2008 crisis. While being the executive chairman Leumi Partners, the investment and merchant banking arm of Leumi Group, he founded LeumiTech, the first Israeli banking arm for the “startup nation” and laid the foundations for other innovative ventures in the group. Tsiddon’s academic perspective is based on over 30 years in academia, studying inflation processes, financial crises, the effects of terror on daily economic decisions, the impact of economic growth on the distribution of wealth and more. Nowadays, seeing through recognized human biases, he brings his researcher’s perspective into analyzing data, markets, and risk, as well as in providing ways of risk mitigation and insurance against the unforeseen.
