Responsibilities involve travelling to customers sites based both onshore and offshore to carry out fault finding, commissioning, maintenance and decommissioning on a range of instrumentation. Because of the nature and the work, and Tracercos’ strong position in the offshore market, it has given me great experience with regards to offshore travel, procedures and work. Offshore installations I have worked on during my time at Tracerco include:• Conoco Phillips – Jasmine Wellhead Platform (UK)• Conoco Phillips – Eldfisk Platform (Norway)• Marathon Oil – Brae Alpha (UK)• Marathon Oil – Brae Bravo (UK)Tracerco’s work also involves calibration of nucleonic instrumentation and handling and responsibility of radioactive sources, where safety and procedure is paramount.

Worked in a team of experienced technicians to maintain instrumentation on site including:Planned Preventative Maintenance and Defects/Breakdowns on an array of systems. Main responsibilities include maintenance of pressure systems, temperature systems, moisture systems, purge/recirc air and nitrogen systems. Work required extreme emphasis on all aspects of safety, procedure and following maintenance instructions at all times. Liase with other departments on a daily basis.

Completed my four year apprenticeship at Teesside Power Station, working closely with and under other experienced technicians and engineers on all aspects of instrumentation and electrical systems at the 1875MW CCGT plant including the 50MW aero-derivative black-start unit. This included reactive/preventative maintenance and outage/shutdown work. I also worked towards completion of the different units required to pass my NVQ during my time at the power station.
