Lutz, Daily, & Brain is an engineering firm located in Kansas. LDB was founded over 68 years ago and continues to be a known source for reliable, trustworthy engineering services. We have served the engineering needs of universities, municipalities, industry, government, and utilities. I am the Director of the Electrical Engineering department overseeing substation design, generation retrofits and installation, transmission design, relay programming, and other related functions. My department also executes power systems designs that supply telecommunications applications. Our clients include the Kansas Board of Public Utilities, Marshall Municipal Utilities, the National Institute of Health (NIH), the City of Wayne and more. Recent projects include serving the Kansas Board of Public Utilities by evaluating 26 substations (161kV-13.8kV and 69kV-13.8-kV) and two BPU power plants. This work included the evaluation of equipment condition, loading conditions (peak loads, VAR loading), recommending action items and providing budgetary costs. Under my direction, LDB recently engineered a Solar Farm tie to BPU's existing distribution system. Additionally, I've overseen substation/generation design for Falls City Utility and generator based power supply design for telecommunications facilities (Comcast). I've created transmission line (115kV) concepts and concept budget for the City of Wayne. I have recently completed a Master Plan study for Marshall Municipal Utilities (Marshall, MO), and am now leading the design efforts for a 161kV transmission design to solve N-1 contingency issues. My passion is serving the needs of a client and building a long lasting, deep trust with the people I work with and those for whom I work.
