What creates an innovator? What drives an entrepreneur? What background and characteristics set up a person to succeed in the business world while others are doomed to fail? Are business leaders born or made? I believe the answer lies somewhere in the middle.Growing up, my family has always revolved around the business world. My father is an entrepreneur, and owns his own steel fabrication and construction business. For as long as I can remember, the main discussion points in my house were always, “How’s the business doing?” and “How’s that job coming along?” With its doors having been open for 25 years, there have been ups and downs, but one aspect has always stayed the same. The work ethic. As a child, I would ride with my dad to work to see him stare at drawings, drive to construction sites with steel in tow, and even jump out of a work truck to roll his sleeves up and weld by himself. His passion and drive echoed in everything he did. Sure, he is technically the CEO of the company, but he is willing to do anything to make sure that the business prospered and that we were fed at home. In his business, he not only erects buildings, but helps people’s dreams become reality, and it’s his vision of how to create construct the final product from some simple drawings that amazed me the most about his business.Because of this, I’ve decided to pursue a degree in accounting to learn the inner workings of businesses to one day open my own business. I also want to help people’s dreams become a reality, and I’ll do this in the future through a business that helps startups with the beginning financials. The world of accounting can be a confusing one, I hope to alleviate that confusion to help others to realize their dreams I am currently on my way to fulfilling my dream, as I have completed my B.A. in Accounting at the University of North Texas, completed by CPA eligibility at University of Texas at Dallas, and I have relocated to a new community in Washington State.
